Former USS La Jolla Crewman

Future U.S. Seaman Larry Moser was launched on July 31st, 1967
in New York City, eleven years before the christening of the fast attack submarine U.S.S. La Jolla.

He graduated in 1985 from Monsignor Scanlan High School in Bronx, NY, and immediately joined the navy intent on seeing the world. He didn’t know at the time that his anticipated sea faring tours would be view-challenged, sailing in a vessel without windows, hundreds of feet under water.

Larry was trained as an electronics technician and nuclear reactor operator, then was assigned to the USS La Jolla (SSN 701) in October 1987 and ably served to June, 1991.

“When I left the navy I worked in technical support and sales for Atlas Copco Compressors and SIEMENS Water Technologies, and am now employed at Meanley's Ace Hardware on Girard.”

You can find the amiable Mr. Moser in the paint department on most days ready to advise you on color combinations, solving problems with your SIEMANS water compressor, or sharing tips for that sticky home nuclear reactor.
