Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Bikini

70 years ago this month Western Civilization turned its startled, then staring, eyes to the beach with the introduction of the shocking, culture assaulting, fashion busting bikini.

This week VOLJ is celebrating the year of its creation as we present a one-hour program of chartbusters (including jingles and great sound effects) from the Hit Parade of 1946. If you’ve ever wondered what teenagers were listening to just before Rock n’ Roll kicked in, this is, without questions an enlightening trip down memory lane.

Voice of La Jolla Joins The Voice of Peace Radio Network

San Diego / La Jolla, CA – Local special event producer, DJ performer and professional announcer Ron J. Jones – the official “Voice of La Jolla” and creator of the popular Community Internet Radio station – has joined the Voice of Peace Radio Network, and is now being promoted in 170 countries with an audience of three million VOPN listeners every week.

Jones’ one-hour weekly shows – California Dreaming of Peace – has a laid back SoCal vibe with a focus on La Jolla, San Diego and the local beach culture, These shows feature a mixed play list of contemporary tunes, old California gold, local musicians featuring their music videos and interviews, and accessible jazz. “A little something for everyone”, Jones explains, “What Home Grown Top Forty Radio used to be.”

Jones’ musical menu can be heard every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in San Diego, 10 p.m. in New York while it’s Thursday morning at 5 a.m. in the Middle East, where the largest portion of the network’s fan base resides.
